Fisheries
to
Workgroup
THE IAGC FORMS NEW Tmonitor and actively engage as
FISHERIES fisheries issues continue to proliferate
around the world. The workgroup
WORKGROUP TO includes IAGC members along with
representatives from our Industry
MONITOR AND ENGAGE Partners, ExxonMobil, Shell, Woodside,
BHP Billiton, Statoil and Apache.
IN FISHERIES ISSUES There is an increasing involvement by
fisheries interests making false and
WORLDWIDE negative accusations against the G&G
industry. The issue is spreading, both
in number of nations and fisheries, and
in the elevation within government
and advocacy circles.
One objective of the Global Fisheries
Workgroup is to share among
members relevant information about
specific fish and fishery issues of
concern. They also work to develop
a common position and approach to
resolving the issue of concern and
prepare industry strategic plans,
position papers and communication
materials that are supported by
appropriate educational and outreach
materials. The Workgroup will also
engage with other relevant ocean
industries and government agencies
in a productive process that builds
shared understanding and mutually
satisfactory solutions.
