President’s Message

Happy New Year! We are less than a month away from our 47th Annual Conference,
“Leadership in Innovation. Insight for Energy.” This year’s conference is shaping up to be
one of our best yet and certainly is not one you should miss.

The conference features two provocative panels designed to challenge us to think in new
ways to ensure our viability for generations to come. During Session I: Strengthening the
Health of the Industry, our Exploration Panel is filled with leading E&P executives who
will be exploring the outlook and sustainability of the exploration industry.
During Session II: Ensuring the Industry’s Freedom to Operate, President Commissioner
of Mexico’s CNH, Juan Carlos Zepeda Molina, will give us a firsthand look at Mexico’s
Energy Transformation, recent bid round, and outlook for exploration onshore and
offshore Mexico.

Session III: Raising the Visibility of the Industry will examine the issue of the industry’s
role in public education and influence against the backdrop of today’s low oil and gas
prices and environmental organizations using misinformation to push their anti-oil and
gas agenda. The session’s panel will address the geophysical industry and the overall oil
and gas industry’s “identity crisis.”
We will also have incredible guest speakers and presentations from Stephen Greenlee
(President, ExxonMobil Exploration), Dr. Scott Tinker (Director, Bureau of Economic
Geology, UT Austin), Deborah Byers (U.S. Energy Leader and Americas Energy Leader,
EY), Bobby Ryan (Vice President, Global Exploration for Chevron Upstream), Ron Neal
(Co-Founder & Co-Owner of Houston Energy), and Gordon Ballard (Executive Director
at IOGP). The day’s events will include breakfast, lunch, and a networking reception.
IAGC’s conference is hosted by our Chairman of the Board, Maurice Nessim, at
WesternGeco Schlumberger’s Houston campus. If you have not registered for this
dynamic conference, I encourage you to do so very soon. Our space is limited and is filling
