SketchUp shapes are created by a set of enclosed lines made on the same plane. If after you create a shape, it doesn’t close, then it isn’t coplanar (you may not have been paying attention to the axes). You can test this out by triangulating the shape. If it closes when you create the triangles, then the edges weren’t originally coplanar If this happens, it is best to just erase and redraw.
