Some people judge Indonesia as being in emergency situations of violence, and even Komnas

Perempuan calls the reality of such a situation " Crunch Sexual Violence ". The city of Padang
does not escape the phenomenon of sexual violence, such as the case of 5 elementary school

students who were victims of sexual harassment of a sports teacher, sexual harassment in

public transportation, sodomy of 3 students and the rape of a woman with a disability by her

brother-in-law, rape by her stepfather, caretaker and employer. The rise in cases of sexual

violence is evidence that the efforts made in particular by the government have not yielded
optimal results. The increase in sexual violence needs to be observed and addressed properly

because sexual violence is known to negatively impact victims, children/victims' families, and

the community. One of the prevention efforts is through the role of parents and informal

leaders in the community. The purpose of this study is to explain the potential of families and

informal figures in efforts to prevent sexual violence. A qualitative approach, using an in-depth
interview data collection instrument with research informants, namely community leaders

(ninik mamak, religious scholars, ingenious clever), traditional leaders, “Bundokanduang and

family (parents), who were determined by purposive sampling. Data were analyzed

qualitatively interpretatively based on relevant literature reviews in order to find an accurate

understanding of the subject. The potential that parents and community leaders have is in

terms of sexual education, socializing the causes, impacts and prevention of sexual violence, as
well as being a facilitator, mediator and counselor in case management.
