CourtStretTransitionalCenter(CSTC)isasix-bedtransitionalhousingprogram,servingmalesastheytransition toindependence. is􏰀scalyearCSTC servedparole esintheSTOPProgram.Uponintakeandas ses sment,residents metwiththecaseworkerasignedtothefacilitytoprepareanindividualizedcaseplantoinclude:(a)in-house
􏰀nancialmanagement,(b)jobsearchandretentionskils,(c)cognitiveskils,(d)useofcommunityresources,and (e)substanceabusecounselingifapplicable.Residentsarerequiredtoparticipateinmeaningfulactivitiesthat
facilitaterentryintothecommunityand/orrecovery,suchaswork,vocationaltraining,adultschool,higher
,volunterwork,andself-helpmetings.CSTC’sprimarygoalisforresidentstosucesfulytransitionto permanenthousingandself-sufficiency.
THISYEAR:
InFiscalYear2019-20,CSTCprovided904(883inFY18-19)mandaysoftransitionalandsoberlivingservicesto 7(4inFY18-19)clients,7(4inFY18-19)ofwhom leftwithpermanenthousing. isyearwasabitofachalenge forourCSTC residentsduringtheCOVID pandemic. eyhadtolearntoadapttolargechangesalongsidetheir ownpersonalnewchangesofsobriety.Ourguyspreservedthroughit,andwereabletoovercomesomeofthedaily stresorsthatchalengedtheirthoughtsandsometimestheirabilities.

SUCCESSSTORY:
AlthoughalofourguysthatstayedatCSTCtoworkonthemselves,andgetingtheirlivesbackontrackwere sucesfulinsomanyways,thereweretwoindividualsthatstoodout,theyhadcomeinrealybroken,andtheyleftwel puttogether.OneoftheseguyswentthroughVisaliaRe-EntryCenterthroughtheProbationcontract,andashe
completed,hetransitionedtoCSTCandstayedawholeyear.Duringthatyearheworkedtosavemoney,hestarted visitswithhisdaughter,andbytheendofhisstayhewasabletorentanapartment,andhewasabletogethisdaughter
back.OurotherresidentalsowentthroughtheVisaliaRe-EntryCenterprogram undertheSTOPContract,and
STC. isresidentgainedemploymentwhilehewasinresidential,andwasabletosavemoney,buya vehicle,anddrivewithalicense.HestayedatCSTCfor9months,andwhenhewas1yearcleanheproposedmariage
tohisgirlfriend.
