APEC Voices of the Future 2024, Lima, Peru
The Executive Director and Deputy Executive Director concluded a two-hour virtual meeting with the Vice
President and Director of Communications of Universidad San Ignacio de Loyola (USIL) regarding the APEC
Voices initiative. USIL had invested significant effort and resources to ensure the success of the APEC Voices
Youth Summit in Lima.

The Executive Director expressed deep appreciation for the collaboration and was encouraged by the strong
recognition APEC Voices received during the APEC Leaders’ Week. The programme, chaired by the Executive
Director since 2007, was frequently acknowledged by the APEC Secretariat’s Executive Director and business
leaders during the APEC Business Advisory Council (ABAC) and APEC CEO Summit 2024. The years of effort
and commitment from 2007 to 2024 were affirmed and appreciated.

The Executive Director and Deputy Executive Director also had the privilege of meeting three Peruvian
Ministers during the VIP Reception: Elmer Schialer Salcedo, Minister for Foreign Affairs; Eduardo Melchor
Arana Ysa, Minister for Justice and Human Rights; and Desilu Leon, Minister for Trade and Tourism. The event
received high praise from overseas delegates.

Collaboration between USIL, Peru and NYAA Singapore
NYAA Singapore continues to enjoy a strong partnership with Universidad San Ignacio de Loyola (USIL), Peru.
USIL played a central role in co-organising the 2024 APEC Voices of the Future programme with NYAA. The event
was widely regarded as a success and received commendation from the 16 participating APEC economies.

Collaboration between Latin American Universities and SMU
NYAA Singapore, as Chair of the APEC Voices of the Future, introduced the Singapore Management
University’s Lee Kuan Yew Global Business Plan Competition 2025 to several Latin American institutions.
Three universities—Universidad San Ignacio de Loyola (USIL) in Peru, the National University of Chile, and the
University of São Paulo in Brazil—will participate in the 2025 edition of the competition.

COP 29 Meeting, Baku, Azerbaijan
Following the APEC Meeting in Lima, the Executive Director and Deputy Executive Director attended the
COP29 meeting in Baku, Azerbaijan.

At the Singapore Pavilion, the Executive Director presented the 25th Anniversary Commemorative Book of
the HSBC Youth Environmental Award to Grace Fu, Minister for Sustainability and the Environment. The NYAA
team also took the opportunity to network with delegates and like-minded organisations from participating
nations, particularly from ASEAN.

Visitation of Senior Officials of the Department of Foreign Affairs, Harbin, China
NYAA Singapore continues to maintain a close relationship with the Harbin People’s Government. It regularly
provides opportunities for youth from Harbin to participate in the APEC Voices of the Future programme.

In November 2024, a delegation of senior officials from the Department of Foreign Affairs, Harbin, visited
Singapore. They were hosted by Bryan Tan, Deputy Chairman of NYAA, and Roddy Mu, NYAA Council Member,
further strengthening bilateral ties between Singapore and Harbin.
