403(b) and 457(b) Investment Product Information:
You may chose from any of your employers approved vendors for your retirement savings.
The different types of investment products these vendors could offer are listed below. With
the exception of Permanent Life Insurance (457(b) Only), these products may be available
in both the 403(b) and 457(b) Plans.
Note that each product has specific provisions and advantages associated with it.
Fixed Interest Annuity - this is the simplest form of retirement savings with a fixed
rate of return.
Fixed Indexed Annuity - Combines characteristics of an interest annuity with the
opportunity for a slightly higher return than a fixed interest annuity. It is tied to
gains in the market indexes without the risk of market losses normally.
Variable Annuity - Several investment alternatives are available and you may select
one or more investment accounts managed by the carrier. Gains may be higher risk
are greater than in fixed products.
Mutual funds (if approved) - Offered by investment management companies and
brokerage firms. Participants may direct contributions to various investment
portfolios managed by the custodian or management company. Gains may be
higher and risk are greater than in fixed products.
(457) Permanent Life - Insurance Option (Universal Life, Indexed Universal Life,
Whole Life)
