Overall Winners
This year, Team A from 1st Battalion

The Royal Gurkha Rifles were victorious
within the Brigade and also managed
to lift the overall March and Shoot
Cup with a record time of 2 hours, 5
minutes and 43 seconds. It was more
than just great news as the team
beat the previous record by over nine
minutes. This was indeed testament
to their rigorous training and
preparation.

Endnote
The victory itself is a great achievement;
however, the time we spent together during
the training and the occasional messings
(curry supper) we had as a Detachment
sponsored by our commanders and seniors is
something I will cherish for years to come. The
brotherly advice and unconditional support
we received inspired us to push ourselves
beyond our limits which eventually led to the
moment of bliss on winning the competition.
It was a great privilege to receive the trophy
from the Colonel Commandant, Lieutenant
General James Bashall CBE. He was incredibly
proud to see the endurance displayed by the
team and described in his own words “You
guys literally ran the full 12 miles”.
