CRÈCHE IN ROCK WALL
A rustic rock wall lines the perimeter of the patio on the southern side of my studio. It is constructed without mortar, the rocks care- fully chosen to t snugly together. Surrounding it at the base is a “lawn” of smooth water sculpted creek stones. Walking by one day, I noticed an indentation where a formerly embedded stone had loos- ened and fallen out of a larger rock. It created a cave-like opening. Then it happened. That magic called creative inspiration struck me.
I picked up two smooth, rounded stones, one large and one small, and placed them in the opening. And voilà, it became a crèche. Madonna and child.
