The Hellifield Herald welcomes creative writing contributions. The
writing might be a short story, an overheard conversation, or, in
this case, a poem written by the mother of one of our readers.

A FRESH START
Matters best forgotten bury out of sight,
Never bring resentment out into the light,
Don’t recount old grudges – put them out to die,
Sleeping dogs cannot bite you if you let them die.

Every day God gives you make another start,
Never let a grievance fester in your heart,
Pass by what offends you – leave if far behind,
Nothing’s worth the wreaking of your peace of mind.
