Each class was challenged to make
a symbol of peace with their 24
classes' canned items, and they
were given points for creativity.
In response to Father Scott
Shaffer's summer visit to
Uganda, the students learned
that the priests in Uganda have a need for
motorcycles for transportation. Father
Jerome Guld brought his own motorcycle to
the quad and students donated money to pur-
chase a bike for these priests in exchange for a
selfie sitting on the bike.
Donovan's PTA handed out blue and white
wrapped Hershey kisses attached to a card
with Mother Teresa's quote, "Spread love
wherever you go. Let no one ever come to you
without leaving happier." The cafeteria served tacos
and rice and bean soup in keeping with Mother
Teresa's simple diet of rice and beans. The day
closed with a school-wide liturgy where director Fa-
ther Scott Shaffer reminded students to be the light
that curses the darkness. The liturgy ended with students
singing and clapping to the words, "Go out in the world and
tell everyone the Good, good news!"
