                Donovan Catholic and
                International Baccalaureate =
                SUCCESS
Donovan Catholic applied for candidacy to be an IB (International Baccalaureate) Diploma World School in
April, 2015. The approval of our acceptance to be a candidate school was received in May, 2015. Mrs. Kathleen
D’Andrea, Vice-Principal, worked tirelessly to put the authorization
process into motion. Teachers were approached and selected to
become IB instructors. Over the next year and a half the teachers gave
up time to travel for professional development on IB, wrote curriculum,
and attended countless meetings to establish the IB program at
Donovan. On January 31, 2017 Donovan Catholic became the first IB
Diploma World School in Ocean County, the tenth IB school in the
state of New Jersey and the only IB school in the Diocese of Trenton.

19 What are the benefits to being an IB school you might ask? The

International Baccalaureate diploma program offers juniors and seniors
a more rigorous course of study that will encourage students to
become more independent thinkers. IB schools offer high quality
programs of education, which support development of knowledgeable
and inquiring students. They work within a world-wide global com-
munity, creating frequent opportunities for shared learning and collab-

students have a better chance of
                                                being accepted to the highest
                                                   ranking universities around
                                                     the world. Graduates com-

their peers, feel more prepared for college-level coursework involv-
ing research, and are better able to cope with demanding work-
                                                        loads and time-management challenges.

The IB program will build on the strengths of an already dynamic
