gave up. I made it through with God’s help and my philosophy – always pursue,
pursue, pursue. I had a guy tell me one time, “You spend your time against the
wind – like an airplane.” He said, “You’re taking off – like an airplane – against
the wind.”

I graduated from grade school, high school, the Army, undergraduate school, and
graduate school, and due to timing, work conflicts or weather conditions, I have

never, ever attended a graduation ceremony. It seems like after putting in all that
time and effort, I should have put on a cap and gown at least once.

I earned 90% of my educational expenses. I always worked! I worked part-time
while going to school; then in the summers, I worked two full-time jobs. Through
college, I worked as dorm counselor to pay for my room and board.
