The 86th Legislature is in Full Swing!
There is a lot happening at our State Capitol and I want to urge you to attend our upcoming Rally
Day on Wednesday, March 20th. Our ‘Grass Roots’ efforts are critical to advancing our legislative
priorities on the local, state and national levels. The Texas Association of Builders (TAB) will host
Rally Day in Austin, TX with their 28 local associations from across Texas. Our elected officials want
to hear from their constituents.
The bus will leave the Greater San Antonio Builders Association parking lot at 8:30 am on
Wednesday, March 20th to travel to Austin. Your $15 investment covers transportation, breakfast,
lunch and dinner.
TAB is tracking hundreds of bills, and Governor Abbott recently identified Emergency Items that
both houses have made a priority:
Kristi Sutterfield School Finance Reform and Increasing Teacher Pay • Increase School Safety
Executive Vice President
Greater access to Mental Health Care Services • Property Tax Reform
Expanded Disaster Response and Readiness Programs
Please join committed members from across the State as we discuss housing issues with our Representatives and Senators. Our ultimate
goal is to ensure we protect the home building and remodeling industries, and that Texas remains a great place to raise a family and do
business.
Speaking of doing business, GSABA has a dynamite class coming up on Tuesday, May 7th at 11:30 am at the Association, lunch will be
served. Don Shelton, Partner with Bush Rudnicki Shelton, PC, will teach a class on The Top 5 Cost Effective Risk Management Strategies for
Builders, Remodelers, Contractors and Sub-Contractors.
If you own a business, lead a business, or serve on a management/sales team, you will not want to miss this seminar. Don will share what
the risks are for a business owner being sued and ways to minimize that risk.
Don will give an intensive overview on the most cost-effective ways to decrease your liability and the possibility of litigation. Most of
our members spend a significant amount of money on general liability insurance. Find out how to transfer liability under your warranty
companies obligations and what warranties can be waived if you do it the right way. Don will go through the best management practices to
ensure that your insurance coverage covers litigation and any potential claims.
The class is being sponsored by Hotchkiss Insurance and StrucSure Home Warranty. Join us onTuesday, May 7th for your Risk Management
