A Note of Gratitude
Kristi Sutterfield
Executive Vice President
The leadership of the Greater San Antonio Builders Association (GSABA) established the Greater
San Antonio Education Foundation (GSAEF), a 501 (c) (3) corporation for charitable and educational
purposes. Many of our members have served in key leadership roles and we are very grateful for your
support. I would like to share a few comments with you from the men and women who support the
Foundation personally and professionally and why they volunteer and give so generously of their time
“Several years ago, my father in law, Beto Gutierrez, and I met with
Becky Oliver, GSABA’s Executive Officer with an idea to build a Charity
House to fund scholarships for students studying the construction
trades, invest in affordable housing initiatives and provide revenue
to GSABA to manage the program. I am proud to be part of the
annual Charity House and I want to take this opportunity to thank
the Armadillo team along with GSABA’s suppliers, vendors and other
builders who have stepped up to help with donations and make the
house a reality. This past year, we awarded thousands of dollars
in scholarships to students enrolled in the Construction Science
Jeff Czar Management Program at UTSA and the one and two-year training
Armadillo Homes
programs at St. Philip’s. This is something we can all be proud of.”
“GSABA started the St. Philip’s College NAHB/GSABA Student
Chapter the year I was President in September of 2015. I met with Dan
Markson with the NRP Group at the June NAHB meetings in DC and
embraced his vision and passion to start our first Student Chapter.
We met with 200+ students from St. Philip’s College and Warren High
School (Construction Careers Academy) and that day we awarded
fifteen $150 scholarships for training materials. When I was leaving,
a young man approached me and told me if he hadn’t received the
scholarship, he wouldn’t have been able to purchase the workbook
for his class. He was a young father working full time with a wife and
Frank Sitterle three kids. My wife, Kim, and I pledged $2,000 a year to help a student
Sitterle Homes with their tuition at St. Philip’s because I saw firsthand the impact the
scholarship made.”
