Construction management students at St. Philip’s
College - Southwest Campus are committed to a
core principle of “Learn, Build, Serve”. Recently, the
NAHB Student chapter identified a 90 year old World
War II veteran in need of an accessibility ramp for
his home on the south west side of San Antonio.
Recognizing that a man who had given so much
to this country was now in need, St. Philip’s students
leapt into action to give back. The Greater San
Antonio Education Foundation, the charitable arm
of GSABA, and GSABA member McCoy’s Building
Supplies provided all the materials for construction
to build the ramp. The students built a top-quality
ramp on October 14. “We are so honored to be a part
of this project”, said faulty advisor Gilbert Noriega.
“We are making an impact here in our community,
and who better to serve than someone who gave so
much to us?”
