you. You know that he will be inviting clients and potential clients to
the party. Do you accept the invitation?

i) The government proposes to ban fishing due to the falling stock of
fish. You are a keen fisherman. It is your only hobby. Can you take
part in the demonstrations against the proposed legislation?

i) Your spouse is standing for a seat in Parliament. Can you campaign on
his/her behalf?
ii) Can you fundraise for him/her? Would your answer be different if it
involved fundraising for his/her political party?
iii) Can you contribute to his/her fundraising campaign?
iv) Can you attend political gatherings at which your spouse is the main
speaker?
v) Would it make any difference if your spouse was not a speaker but
merely attending as a senior member of the political party?

i) Your wife is the Minister for women’s affairs. She is very outspoken
about issues of domestic violence and rape. She says that all rapists
should be jailed for life. You are due to try a “date rape” trial. You are
asked to recuse yourself because of your relationship to the minister.
