Blake’s hitch
This is another of those slide-and-grip, or friction, knots tied by climbers and cavers in
accessory cord around climbing ropes. It is used to provide additional security in the activity
known as prusiking.
Wrap the accessory cord once around the rope (1). Make a total of four wrapping turns (2), then
bring the working end down, over its own standing part, and behind the rope (3). Tuck it up
through two of the wrapping turns (4). Where the end emerges, add a figure-eight stopper knot
(5).
