Turle knot
This classic fly-fishing knot attaches an eyed hook to a leader tippet. It was first published in
1941 and a few years later popularized by a Major Turle of Newton Stacey, in Hampshire,
England (although he never claimed to have invented it).
Tie an overhand knot (see page 292) so that the standing part of the line, upon which the hook has
been threaded, is led through it (1, 2). Pass the hook through the loop created by this knot (3) and
pull tight up against the eye (4). Snip the end off close to the eye.
