Ossel hitch







  This is a compact yet tough little hitch, a specialty of the sea-fishing industry, used to attach

  thick vertical cords at right-angles to the head ropes of drift nets as they are towed underwater.
  It is equally effective above the waves.


  Pass the working end of the line to be attached down behind the rope or spar, then cross the end
  behind its own standing part (1). Take it down in front once more, then up behind the spar (2).

  Tuck the working end beneath the initial upward pass (3). Pull on both ends to tighten (4).
