Offshore swivel knot

Anglers use this strong, chunky ring hitch—which, when tied in cord or rope, is known by

boating enthusiasts as a cat’s paw—to fix a hook or swivel to a long loop such as the Bimini twist
(see pages 122–123). There is a neat trick to tying it in the bight.

Push the end of a loop through the eye or ring (1) and pull out a short bight (2). Lift up the hook
or swivel and pass it a number of times through the space between the two loops that have been

created (3, 4). Pull steadily on both legs of the loop to tighten the knot, at the same time pulling the
hook or swivel in the opposite direction, so that the wrapping turns close up and snug down against
  the hook (5).
