And in the days of the early church while the
New Testament was still being written and
before God’s Word was available to the
common people, Christians would assemble
together in a meeting place (usually in a
house) in order to hear God’s Word read to
them. In fact, assembling together to hear
God’s Word was probably the primary
purpose for an assembly during the early
years of the church (not to be entertained or
for a social outlet as is often the purpose for
assembling together in our churches today).
Today there are still some faithful Christians
and faithful assemblies of believers that
teach the King James Bible and preach the
way of salvation in the power of the Holy
Spirit and we also have the very words of
