SECTION 1: INTRODUCTION
1.1 PURPOSE OF THE EMPLOYEE HANDBOOK
The purpose of the handbook is to provide you with some information on a range of subjects related
to the Company and your employment. It is not intended to be the sole resource on these issues,
rather it sets out the key aspects of terms and conditions and employment policies and procedures.
Clarification on any issue should be sought from the Manager.
This handbook should be read in conjunction with your Contract of Employment as both documents
constitute your employment contract.
This is a confidential document for DIFC employees only.
1.2 ABOUT DIFC
DIFC aims to be the leading provider of pre-university courses in Ireland. Currently, we run two key
foundation programmes; the Northern Consortium of British Universities' (NCUK) International
Foundation Year (IFY) and the NCUK Pre-Masters Programme (PMP).
As a growing company, it is important for us to have systems in place to ensure the quality of delivery
and also a standardised experience for all students across the company. To this end, we have
developed systems, procedures and guidance for all staff members and teachers. These form part of
our internal Quality Assurance system. This Handbook is your guide to these systems and procedures.
Academic staff should refer to our Teaching Manual for further guidance on our teaching approaches
This Handbook attempts to be comprehensive, but inevitably there will be some things you would like
to know which are not covered. If so, please feed this back to your line manager, and we will
endeavour to fill the gap during the year.
1.2.1 DIFC Mission Statement
Our aim is the provide international students with a life-changing educational experience through the
delivery of high-quality University foundation programmes that empower students to realise their full
