Tech Talk 2024
Welcome to a new year and hopefully a prosperous and healthy new year for everyone. While 2023 is
fading into the rearview mirror it has been a challenging year for some with their electronics, i.e.
computers, cell phones tablets and so on.
Over the last year certain repairs continue to be high on the list of concerns. First and foremost, the scams and constant
hacks to attain access to your computers and ultimately your hard-earned money. I cannot stress it enough. Microsoft will
never call you, nor will they post a message on your computer for you to call them. These are RED flags; the next will be
how they are asking for payment. They don’t want your credit card anymore, now they want gift cards on wire transfers
from Canada Post.
Thankfully the companies that sell gift cards are becoming more aware and actually refusing to sell to certain customers
and are asking more questions as to why they need gift cards. Be diligent and ask questions, if you are uncertain, you are
becoming a victim call a computer repair shop and ask for advice. Also please never allow someone access to your
computer and never install applications they request you do. TeamViewer, Ultra Viewer, Any Desk are just a few programs
that allow these people full access to your computer.
I hope this information enlightens everyone a bit more.
Happy New Year from Dr. Jim’s Computer Repair.
Until Next time.
