TWEED & COMPANY PRESENTING TWO GREAT SHOWS AS PART OF TWEED HARVEST FESTIVAL
Like a runaway train, Tweed & Company has lost no momentum since assuming ownership of the Marble Arts Centre last
year, and completing construction of the new outdoor stage in Memorial Park this past spring. This professional theatre
group that started small almost 15 years ago has in the past two years grown to be one of the largest theatre companies in
Eastern Ontario, the only professional producer in Hastings County and in the Ontario’s Highlands tourism region, and one of
the largest charitable organizations in the county as well.
Ticket sales, website hits and social media followings have also continued to increase this season, having sold 2551 tickets just
in Tweed alone at the halfway point of this season, well above last year’s total ticket sales of 1941 for Tweed productions. “It’s
been very exciting to see the number of patrons enjoying our performances continue to grow, and to also see increased
rentals and programming doing very well in our community,” says Artistic Director Tim Porter, “The appetite for live
entertainment is growing considerably in our region, and with continued improvements to our venues and some really
exceptional performances already programed for 2024, we are so excited to see what the future holds.” After a busy summer
operating three venues in Tweed & Bancroft (Total sales company wide for this year have already exceeded 14,000 tickets),
the team behind Tweed & Company have gathered no moss in planning an exciting fall and winter for their audiences here in
Tweed. Still on the slate for this year are a sold out Corb Lund concert, the return of Festival of Small Halls with Julian Taylor
and the Tweed & Area Arts Council, Kids in the Hall’s Bruce McCulloch, a Stompin Tom Tribute, the Red Dirt Skinners, the
return of the Fitzgeralds, and this year’s holiday pantomime, The Lion of Oz. But first, Tweed & Co have two exceptional
presentations planned for this coming weekend as part of the annual Tweed Harvest Festival, a weekend of events from Sept
22nd-24th. First up is the final show of this year’s Season Pass presentations, a popular Canadian play starring professional
actress with local roots Janelle Hanna; MISS CALEDONIA. In this hilarious and uplifting story set in rural Ontario, Janelle plays
small town girl Peg, who is intent on making her way to Hollywood, and plans to do so through small town beauty pageants
like Miss Furrow, Miss Sweet Potato, Miss Queen o' the Grand River Pork Producers' Association, and then, finally – Miss
   Caledonia.
Hanna plays 18 different characters in this production, and is supported by Tweed & Co favourite Amy Marie Wallace on the
fiddle, and director of last season’s smash hit Mamma Mia, Stephanie Graham. “If you're from a small town, I think you'll love
this show as it really does have something (or someone!) for everyone. And just when you think you've met everyone, another
new hilarious character pops up.” Says Hanna, originally of Belleville, “It's also not the kind of show you're going to see
everyday - when's the last time you saw one actor play eighteen characters?! And this show is funny! With a whole lot of
heart. It is beyond perfect for a Tweed audience, and I can't wait to share this funny and heartwarming story with this
   community.”
Then, to cap off the Harvest Festival weekend, Tweed & Company is bringing one of the most exciting concert acts currently
touring around the globe, MY SON THE HURRICANE, to the Tweed & Company Outdoor Stage for an epic season finale
concert. A multi-horn, multi-drummer, multi-singer brass funk beast from Niagara, ON, this 12-piece brass-dance crew has
toured over multiple countries and played some of Canada, USA and Europe’s biggest festivals. They had 45 sold out shows in
2022 and a viral video with 6.5 million views in a week...proving that there is no live show like My Son The Hurricane! The
band dares you not to dance!
Miss Caledonia plays at the Actinolite Hall from Thursday, September 21st to Saturday, September 23rd, with shows on
Thursday (Sold Out), Friday and Saturday at 7 PM, and a 2 PM performance the Saturday as well. Tickets range from
$22.50-$37.50+HST, and on Friday, September 22nd there is also a pre-show burger and corn dinner option from Enright
   Cattle Company.
My Son the Hurricane takes to the Outdoor Stage at 7 PM on September 24th. General
admission tickets are $25.00+HST, and VIP are $30.00+HST.
TIckets for all shows are available at tweedandcompany.com, or by calling 613-478-6060. Get out and see some live
performances, of an incredible calibre, right here in your backyard!
