Our Achievements
This year, although a little different given the pandemic, has been a great year for CSR. We partnered with St Pauls Special School in January and after visiting the school with the team and meeting the wonderful staff, we developed a list of things that we wanted to achieve. Over the last 6 months we have been ticking off many things on that list, such as painting the external school building in partnership with Janssen, painting 5 large classrooms, gardening, providing new school booklets, transforming ceilings in sensory rooms and much more. We also helped develop the school’s website and in partnership with STEM we provided brand new laptops and tablets for the school. We are also helping the school in fundraising for
a new bus to transport the students safely, with new road safety signs. We wanted to support the students safe return to school after lockdown, so we installed hand sanitizers and COVID-19 safety signs.
During the pandemic we received many requests to support our local heroes on the frontline; we donated facemasks, JNJ hygiene products and more. This year, although tough at times has really shown how important the CSR team and partners are in providing what we can for those that need it most!
Are people mostly onsite or offsite and how has life changed for yourself and the department since COVID-19?
I would say we are 50:50 in terms of those working from home vs those on site. This has helped us to maintain a presence
both virtually and physically at the site over the last year. We have been impacted by COVID-19 in ways we did not expect
in January, we could not visit the school as much as we had hoped and relied heavily upon a few people to lead and execute projects with the school. All of our team connects are virtual, and for sure we miss the face to face catch ups with our usual jokers on the team but it has really shown us that people are part of this to do whatever they can to help even during hard times! We were inundated with people asking to support and people wanting to do what they could, and it really shows the importance of CSR and the team.
Is there any member you can highlight who has contributed to the business positively in 2020?
We are very lucky here in that we have a great team, with loads of different skill sets and people genuinely love to get involved and offer what they can, we certainly would not have been able to achieve as much this year without such a great team. We are very lucky to be able to work with the wonderful facilities team on site, who can turn their hand to anything! They have helped us immensely over the last few years. We had great support from all departments and had many teams from the EST group at the school this year to help with all the DIY. This year we worked with the STEM group who provided great support
