2020 has been quite the year! Our committee welcomed two new members Joan Mulcahy and Caroline Wall whilst Luke O’Shea and
Ciara Murphy bid us farewell. A special word of appreciation for all the work energy that Luke and Ciara brought to Óige whilst serving on the committee. Our first event of the year consisted of a focus group; over lunch 20 of us gathered to brainstorm, hold an open discussion and gain insight into what the wider Óige network would like for the coming year. This enabled us to draw up our roadmap for 2020.
The idea of a “Speaker Series” was born. Our first guest speaker Marguerite O’Sullivan
was due to present in person on March 12th. However, with the arrival of COVID-19 this was switched to a Skype Meeting at the last minute.
The upside of hosting this event virtually was the invitation could be extended to the wider Óige Network across Campus Ireland, resulting in a fantastic turnout for Marguerite’s talk
on “Reaching your summit”.
In July, Óige facilitated a tech talk with Pat Divilly one of Ireland’s leading speakers in the area
of personal development. Pat offered a unique perspective
on the topic of Idea Generation, how self-care, presence and perspective are powerful tools towards enhancing energy, and subsequently creativity. This event was very well received. Virtual tours of Janssen Chem and Bio Sites took place over the course of Q3. For those curious of what goes on in the wider J&J Campus Ireland, these are an excellent
resource for learning about the pharmaceutical sector. One could almost say there is no longer a need to go on site when the site can be brought to you!
Our speaker series continued into Q4 where we were joined in conversation with Catherine Healy, VP Product Management at DePuy Synthes. With 200 guests in attendance, this talk was one not to be missed. Catherine spoke about her career journey, her connection to
France, finding that work life balance and her passion for coaching amongst other
topics. A highly engaging Q&A session took place for the latter half of this talk
Our final guest of the year, Michael Napier, is a scientific fellow who has spent the past 30+ years working
for Janssen. He is a strong believer in lifelong learning and is currently
completing a coaching certification with the International Coaching Federation.
If anyone would like to view any of the episodes from our speaker series,
please reach out to your ÓIGE Committee who are more than happy to provide the recording.”
