1986 – Mark Speese and two partners start Vista Rent-to-Own
1993 – Changes name to Renter’s Choice; ends the year with over 100 stores
1995 – Renter’s Choice goes public; revenue exceeds $133 million
1996 – Acquisition of Colortyme, Inc.
1998 – Breaks the 2,000 store mark by acquiring 1,409 Rent-A-Center stores
1999 – Changes name to Rent-A-Center; revenue exceeds $1.4 billion
2001 – Mark Speese becomes the Chairman of the Board and CEO of Rent-A-Center
2003 – Acquisition of 295 Rent-Way Stores
2004 – Acquires Rainbow Rentals and Rent-Rite; opens five stores in Canada
2005 – First RAC Acceptance opens in Ashley Furniture in Orlando, Florida
2006 – Introduces new logo, ends the year with over 3,500 stores
2006 - Acquisition of 782 Rent-Way Stores
2010 – RAC Acceptance grows to 384 locations; First store opens in Mexico
