              USING THE HANDTRUCK

              The handtruck, aka, dolly, trolley, two wheeler, is an effective tool for lifting heavy objects.
              Understanding how to use this tool could help save time and make you a more efficient coworker.
              Read the proper steps for using the handtruck. Like the safe lifting activity you’ve just completed,
              partner with your store manager or franchise owner to complete the practice checklist below.

              The steps for using the handtruck:
              ➊ Cover any unboxed merchandise with a furniture pad and rubber bands                                          WELCOME & ORIENTATION  /  TRAINING ROADMAP

              ➊ Use the handtruck’s straps to secure the merchandise

                ➊ Check for obstacles                                                                                        SAFETY AND SECURITY  /  SAFE LIFTING & USING THE HANDTRUCK
                ➊ Move forward at a safe speed:
                •   Make sure the handtruck is under control at all times

                •   Never walk backwards with a handtruck
                •   Use gloves whenever handling anything with rough or sharp edges

              Watch your learning coach demonstrate this task then discuss what you have observed. While
              completing the practice checklist you will perform the activity as your learning coach observes.
