Backing
Up the Truck
Safely ›››
Whenever possible, have another coworker help guide you
when backing the truck. If you’re ever unsure of yourself while
you’re backing up, then stop, get out and look for yourself. WELCOME & ORIENTATION / TRAINING ROADMAP
Make sure to check for obstructions, including parked cars,
posts, curbs, pedestrians, potholes, and even overhead
obstructions (low-hanging wires, garage or carport roofs, trees
and branches), then back up slowly, constantly checking your
mirrors.
You should always roll your windows down and turn off the
radio, whether you’re with another coworker or not. It helps
you stay focused on what you’re doing, and you can hear any
warning sounds better.
And don’t forget to go slowly—did we already mention
that? Because that’s probably the most important thing to
remember: always back up slowly!
Hang It Up!
Using a cell phone to call
or text is strictly prohibited
when operating company
vehicles.
