On Aug. 15, 2015, Officers Giron, Garcia and Collado responded to a call of a woman named Goldman threatening to commit suicide on the Chicago Skyway. When they arrived on scene, they began searching for Goldman, who was not there. At this time, Goldman raced past the officers and rammed her vehicle into a cement barrier wall on the right side of the Skyway above the river. The offi- cers immediately ran to the wrecked vehicle and when Officer Garcia opened the driver’s side door, Goldman stated, “I can’t even kill myself right.”
Officer Garcia then pulled Goldman from the car and held her tightly, pre- venting her from
jumping into the
river. Officers
Giron and Col- lado assisted in getting her safe-
ly into a squad car and out of traffic, which was speeding by, oblivious to the potential danger.
Due to the quick and valiant actions of Offi- cers Garcia, Giron and Collado, a citizen who ap- parently was suffering from mental illness was saved, and potential harm to innocent bystand- ers on the Skyway was prevented.
It is with great appreciation that the Frater- nal Order of Police, Chicago Lodge 7 presents Officers Manuel Giron, Louis Garcia and Jeffrey Collado with Lifesaving Awards. d

On February 13, Officers Renault, Parks and Mulligan responded to assist in- jured Police Officer Andrew Jones in the 11th District Lock-up. While in Lock- up, Officer Jones was sitting in a chair when he put his head down on the desk. He then groaned loudly and sat back in the chair while his body stiffened. Sur- rounding officers called for an ambulance for they thought Officer Jones was having a heart attack.
Officer Mulligan grabbed the Automated External Defibrillator (AED) which was located behind the front desk. Officer Mulligan opened the AED and checked for a pulse while Officer Parks assisted in placing the AED pads on Officer Jones’ chest. Officer Parks activated the AED then started chest compressions. Officer Mulligan began rescue breathing while the AED analyzed the victim.
After clearing the body, Officer Parks adminis- tered one shock, after which the
AED instructed the officers to continue to check compressions. Officers Mulligan, Parks and Re- nault continued chest compressions for approxi- mately four more minutes, at which time the CFD ambulance arrived.
Had it not been for the rapid and efficient ac- tions of Officers Renault, Parks and Mulligan, CPD may have lost a brother to a heart attack. These officers provided an example of how to use the AED and save lives.
It is with great appreciation that the Fraternal Order of Police, Chicago Lodge 7 presents Offi- cers Phillip Renault, Jordan Parks and Danielle Mulligan with Lifesaving Awards. d
