CPD officers mark 9/11 anniversary with prayer, tributes
As the nation paused to commemorate the 19th anniversary of the Sept. 11 terrorist attacks, Chicago Police Officers took part in moments of reflection and prayer.
In the 2nd District, the CAPS office held a “Prayer on the Corner” event at 35th and Indiana. Community members who gathered offered their prayers for officers from the Wentworth
District and for those who lost their lives in New York, Wash- ington, D.C. and Pennsylvania in the 2001 attacks.
Officers and faith-based liaisons from the 3rd, 4th and 7th districts joined forces for a “9/11 Rolling Prayer Parade,” which visited six different Chicago Fire Department stations around the South Side to pray for the city’s firefighters.
