Know who your leaders are. Your leaders are at a higher standard, that’s why they are leaders.
In the Bible, Joshua chapters 6-7 it speaks about the walls of Jericho, the children of Israel are building the faith to knock down the walls of Jericho. You (pastors) are building the faith with your leaders, as we know in the story, the walls of Jericho came down, and there was a condition made. Joshua 6:19 (KJV) But all the silver, and gold, and vessels of brass and iron, are consecrated unto the Lord: they shall come into the treasury of the Lord.
One person did not obey the condition God had made, it was Achan. God said do not take the Gold or Silver and Vessels of Brass and Iron, Achan did. Achan brought a curse to the children of Israel, at the time it seemed ok, but it was not, a price would be paid.
One person brought a curse to the children of Israel, Joshua 7:1 (KJV) But the children of Israel committed a trespass in the accursed thing: for Achan, the son of Carmi, the son of Zabdi, the son of Zerah, of the tribe of Judah, took of the accursed thing: and the anger of the Lord was kindled against the children of Israel.
The children of Israel did not see the results of what Achan did until they went to the next battle at Ai. In this battle the children of Israel lost 36 men compared to Jericho where the children of Israel had won knocking down the walls of Jericho. You know they were still full of faith after the win at Jericho, yet now they could not even take out a little place like Ai. Joshua fell to his face and God said;
Joshua 7:10-12 (KJV): 10 And the Lord said unto Joshua, Get thee up; wherefore liest thou thus upon thy face? 11 Israel hath sinned, and they have also transgressed my covenant which I commanded them: for they have even taken of the accursed thing, and have also stolen, and dissembled also, and they have put it even among their own stuff. 12 Therefore the children of Israel could not stand before their enemies, but turned their backs before their enemies, because they were accursed: neither will I be with you any more, except ye destroy the accursed from among you.
Pastors, it can take only one person or leader to stop the growth of your church. Make sure you do not have an Achan spirit amongst your leaders. Know who your leaders are, they are held at a higher standard. All your prayers and hard work can be in vain if you have an Achan spirit among your leaders.
Ask yourself these questions.
1. Has the vision been written out and in the hands of your leaders?
2. Can only be one vision.
3. Can your leaders disagree with the vision and still submit to the vision?
4. Is the vision being looked at to see if the vision is being upheld?
Vision
Habakkuk 2:1-3 (KJV)2 I will stand upon my watch, and set me upon the tower, and will watch to see what he will say unto me, and what I shall answer when I am reproved.2 And the Lord answered me, and said, Write the vision, and make it plain upon tables, that he may run that readeth it.3 For the vision is yet for an appointed time, but at the end it shall speak, and not lie: though it tarry, wait for it; because it will surely come, it will not tarry.
