Pastors and Leaders, over the years being able to travel to many parts of the world and preach in many churches, I have found that the tithes and offerings for the most part are not being taught on. If we, as preachers and leaders are not teaching the people on tithes and offerings we are cheating the people.
2 Timothy 4:2 (AMP)2 preach the word [as an official messenger]; be ready when the time is right and even when it is not [keep your sense of urgency, whether the opportunity seems favorable or unfavorable, whether convenient or inconvenient, whether welcome or unwelcome]; correct [those who err in doctrine or behavior], warn [those who sin], exhort and encourage [those who are growing toward spiritual maturity], with inexhaustible patience and [faithful] teaching.
I have watched and listened to many pastors and leaders curse their offering by saying:
1. There are not a lot of people here today so the tithes and offerings will be low.
2. They look at the number of envelopes collected, if the envelopes are few in number they assume the tithes
a and offerings will be low.
3. Mr. or Mrs. So and So are not here today, the tithes and offerings will be low.
4. We need more professional people in our church, the tithes and offerings will go up.
5. I know these people, they can’t give, that’s why our tithes and offerings are low.
As long as we think like the world, we will get worldly results. “People are not your source” or another way of saying it “Your congregation is not your source”. There is only one source and His name is Jesus.
When I teach on tithes and offerings on Sunday mornings by the power of the Holy Ghost, the pastors are shocked by the amount collected. Why - because I never put my eyes on the people, my eyes are always on the one who can make all things happen, Jesus.
I’m encouraging you to teach and preach on the tithes and offerings. Put your eyes on Jesus and not on your people. You have no idea how Jesus is dealing with your congregation. He is the one that can give them million dollar ideas, He is the one that deals with their hearts about giving, He is the one that can give them favor. You have no idea how it’s going to come in, but it will come in, if your church is built on the ROCK it will happen.
The tithes and offering are transactions by heaven, it’s a heavenly transaction when people give. They are giving to Jesus not to the church. Hebrews Chapter 7:1-8 (verse 8) talks about this, Abram gave to Melchizedek and Melchizedek is (Jesus).
Hebrews 7:8 (KJV) And here men that die receive tithes; but there he receiveth them, of whom it is witnessed that he liveth.
I’m encouraging you to teach on the tithes and offerings with and by the Power of The Holy Ghost. God knows where you live, God knows what your circumstances are and God is above all that. Tithes and Offering are not about keeping your church going, you are doing that now, yes we use the tithes and offerings for that but that’s just a little part, it’s about impacting the kingdom.
Deuteronomy 15:6 (KJV)6 For the Lord thy God blesseth thee, as he promised thee: and thou shalt lend unto manynations, but thou shalt not borrow; and thou shalt reign over many nations, but they shall not reign over thee.
