     LET’S PAINT
GLUING THE MOLDS
Aleene’s Super Thick Tacky Glue is perfect for this project. Be sure it is the “Super Thick” version! Regular tacky glues are too thin and won’t adhere as quickly. As you are working with this glue, place the bottle on its side or upside-down. The glue is super thick and takes a while to get to the top. It will be faster to use if you keep the glue closer to the top of the bottle. To remove glue from your fingers while working, roll or rub the glue off with your other hand. Do the same with the molding compound.
Start from the cone's bottom (largest part) and work toward the top. Place your largest flowers in the largest areas of the tree. When composing the placement of castings, be aware of how the flowers and leaves grow. Don’t just randomly place castings in open spaces. Build the design little by little. Consider where the stems may be, how the leaves will come out from the flowers, the grouping of leaves, etc. You may have to make more castings as you go. You will want to fill in and overlap some elements with additional leaves and small flowers for more “movement” and interest.
Allow your creation to dry overnight and check for any loose pieces. You can put glue onto a toothpick to reach into areas that may need more glue.
