     PAINTING
Use an old brush that you don’t mind tapping and pushing into small spaces
to basecoat the castings on the tree. When you think you are finished, turn the tree upside down and paint all that was missed! Turn the tree to every angle to find all the missed spots. Every time I think I have finished painting, I see more that I have missed! When the basecoat is dry, skim over the tops of the castings with Emperor’s Gold or another metallic paint that coordinates with your selected basecoat color. I did not completely cover the red basecoat with the gold.
FINISHING
Iliketoaddabaseorstandtomy trees. You can leave the tree as is or find something from your stash! You may already have the perfect base. I used a wooden candle pedestal for the sample, but you could use an upside-down silver bowl, vintage Jell-O mold, small plant pedestal, candle pedestal, or something I haven’t thought of! My sample is painted with checks and stripes using Lamp (Ebony) Black, Cool White, Country Red and Emperor’s Gold. I hope you enjoy playing with molds as much as I do!
