my profession in contributing back to the community, because it is
connected to faith and God’s work. Faith gives you a sense of core
values, and a sense of community. The faith community is not fully
following through on its role, and it may be running counter to their
values, and not being true to the Word, and sometimes being OVERLY
true to the Word. I do believe that there are sometimes some
contradiction or even hypocrisy in the faith community, despite the
countless numbers of ways they may be contributing, you have to be
consistent with uplifting society and taking care of the most vulnerable.
These are things that all faiths and denominations should ascribe to, and
I don’t think we are fully following some of that.”

IEM: As one of the organizers of the upcoming Cancer Walk,
please share how you continue to honor the strength and courage of
your wife who is a survivor…..
“I’ve been married 20 years next year, and a year after we were
married, my wife discovered a lump in her breast. Along with friends at
family-owned Bilmor Advertising, we decided to participate in the
Komen Race for the Cure downtown Miami. Over the years more
Caribbean owned business and organizations have joined to participate
under “d’Limers, we are friends who lime for a cause, or for a greater
purpose” to encourage more black or Caribbean women to get their
screening done, and tested at an early date, as our women have a higher
percentage, based on the genes. We use the power of our music and
culture, and now 14 years later, and over 400 participants and several
more breast cancer survivors, we honor those who have passed and we
celebrate the spirit of our culture and elevate breast cancer awareness.”
