                                               “I have been creating artwork since I was a child,” says Dr. Neelam
                                               Misra. “I am really enjoying watercolors and fiber art right now.
                                               Creative expression sustains my work as a physician.” Misra is fond of
                                               letting the paint “paint itself,” letting the colors come to life with water
                                               and minimal intervention. “There is a double surprise—the first is to
                                               see what new colors will emerge as the paint migrates across the paper.
                                               The second is the portals created when the paint has dried—far
                                               off places with otherworldly skies and accidental stalagmites are
                                               transporting.” Dr. Misra also believes that accessing the creative
                                               sections of her mind changes her approach to patients, increasing
                                               empathy and openness.
