2. JOB DESCRIPTIONS
• The usual Management Group for a National Squad consists of a Manager, Coach,
Assistant Coach, Physiotherapists and Video Operators. From time to time
additional specialists may be required. For example: - Team Medical Officer, Sports
Psychologists, Life Style mentors, Strength and Conditioning, Nutritionist,
Goalkeeping. Penalty Corner and Defensive Coaches.
• At major Tournaments, other Hockey Ireland Staff and Head of Delegation may be
present to assist.
2.1 MANAGER’S KEY ROLES
• Provide off-the-field management support to the Coach and any other personnel
directly or indirectly involved with the squad.
• Liaise closely with Hockey High Performance Manager with regard to arranging
fixtures, practice times/pitch bookings, meals, accommodation, travel details and all
related administrative duties.
• Co-ordinate and implement identified programme with the coach
• Be responsible for all hockey equipment on issue to the Squad, including any
laptops or camera equipment
• With the co-operation of the Finance Officer assist in administering and allocating
the Squad’s finances.
• Be familiar with and follow Hockey Ireland JAGS Financial Procedures and help
develop and keep a track of budget spends (and contributions)
• Ensure players and parents are kept up to date with the annual programme and
training/competition dates and details (including any contributions and income
streams)
• Compile information for the Hockey Ireland office for press releases, grant
applications and player liaison.
• Work closely with the Hockey Ireland PR/Marketing with regards to co-ordinating
sponsorship opportunities for all international squads.
• Ensure that Irish anthem (Ireland’s Call) and flag are provided at
tournaments/events, liaise closely with Head of Delegation and other squad
managements.
• Arrange team photographs for official records of major tournaments.
• Oversee the organisation of rooming arrangements.
• Ensure that all appropriate consent forms are completed by members of the squad
• Lead on Child Protection and Welfare for the squad.
2.1.2 Assistant Manager should: -
• Work closely with the Team Manager.
• Carry out any tasks as requested by the Manager.
• Deputise for Manager at as when required.
