could cause your company to have to replace the customer’s
entire carpet. Please don’t forget this.
Tile Cleaner (in a squirt bottle). Liquid tub,
shower, and tile cleaner. Use it to clean soap
scum and mineral buildup from the
tub/shower area. Scum Bum is Blue Cross
Certified.
Feather duster. We are well aware of
the purists who insist that feather
dusters only move the dust around and
don't get rid of it. We do agree that dust
does need to be removed during
housecleaning. In some cases, this can
mean wiping the dust up with furniture
polish and a cloth, or washing
baseboards, or vacuuming shelves.
However, when performing Maintenance/PMC on a regular
basis, moving relatively small amounts of dust very quickly
from one (higher) level to another (lower) level where most of it
is vacuumed away is a decidedly good thing. The only feather
duster that works is made with real feathers— ostrich down
feathers to be exact. Down feathers are full, soft, and almost
spider web-like at the ends. To prevent putting more dust into
the air, bring the duster to a complete stop after dusting a
surface and regularly “tap” the duster on your shoe or ankle to
release dust near the floor where it will be vacuumed away.
Microfiber Duster. These are sturdier than feather dusters
because there are no quills that can break off and possibly
scratch a delicate surface. If your company uses both feather
dusters and microfiber dusters (or lambs wool dusters), use the
microfiber (or wool) duster on larger, wider surfaces such as
wood blinds and shutters, window sills, baseboards, fan blades,
the top of the fridge and for cobwebs above you. Just be aware
of the spine of the duster so that you don’t tip something over
when dusting.
