   Effectiveness of Private Tuition: What are the benefits?
   •    To improve academic performance.

   •    Help to prepare well for the competitive examinations and for higher studies.
   •    Help to revise and understand the lessons and to deepen knowledge.
   •    Provide flexible time and individual attention to improve weak subjects.
   •    Help the weak students to clarify doubts.

   •    Help academically sound and successful students to maintain their competitive advantage over others.

   87% of the respondents agreed that private tuition helps the weak students to clarify their doubts.



   Problems of Private Tuitions on the Lives of the Students: What are the disadvantages?

   •    Dominate students’ lives most of the time.
   •    Restrict student’s leisure times for recreation and other activities.
   •    No sufficient time for self-study.
   •    Cultivate a mindset of dependency and culture of rote learning.

   •    Create confusion in the teaching methods of the school teachers and tutors.
   •    Robbing the thinking power, creativity and problem-solving skills.
   •    Create a serious socio-economic problem among the rich and poor families in the society.
   •    Most families join private tuition unnecessarily through pressure from peer group, family, relatives and society.

   •     It affects physical and mental health.

   95% of the students agreed that it creates confusion in the teaching methods of teachers and private tutors and
   gives no sufficient time for self-study.



   We should understand that there must be a balance in educating our children. There is a popular saying that  ‘Too

   many hands spoil the soup”. As such, we should look more to instilling the qualities of a 21  Century learner and
   making our children better equipped to face an ever-evolving system of education that will see conventional means of
   educating our children obsolete in the near future. We are already seeing this change with how we have had to adapt

   our teaching methods and provision with the COVID 19 pandemic.

   The success of a child is not determined by the number of exams they can write and pass but how they show they are
   Knowledge-able, great thinkers, good communicators, can be principled, be open-minded, show care, be a risk taker,
   be balanced and reflective of how their actions affect others.
