benefit under Baggage Rules
A-101: As per baggage rules of Central Board of Indirect Taxes and Customs, import of pet
animals – domestic pets upto two numbers per passenger are allowed at one time. This is
subject to production of required health certificate from Country of origin and examination
of the said pets by the concerned quarantine officer.
Q-102: The benefits of sending personal and household goods as unaccompanied baggage
A-102: (i) Generally goods owned and used for at least 6-12 months do not attract any sort of
charges like duty or taxes at the destination port.
(ii) It can be sent prior or after the departure of the passenger.
(iii) Newly purchased items can be a part of unaccompanied baggage but you may have
to pay duties or taxes on these imported goods.
(iv) You are free to send your unaccompanied baggage from any other airlines/shipping
line, apart from your nominated airlines.

Q-103: Can we import LCD TV is allowed as part of free baggage allowance under Baggage Rules,
1998?
A-103: No, as per Annexure I to the Baggage Rules, 2016 which specifies the items that
cannot be allowed duty free clearance as part of free baggage allowance has been amended
vide Notification No. 84/2013 to include Flat panel (LCD/LED/Plasma) Television therein.
Therefore, import of flat panel ((LCD/LED/Plasma) Television as part of free baggage
allowance has been disallowed from August 26, 2013.
