P. 21
Fitness Room
A Fitness Room is included at each site to promote physical education and to supplement
the functions of the multipurpose room/cafeteria. This room totals 1,920 square feet, the size
of two typical classrooms, and includes 200 square feet of dedicated storage.
Special Day Classes
Special Day Classes move around the District based on population needs, therefore the
master plan maintains the current number of classrooms on each campus as they currently
exist.
Unique Programs
On campuses where specific programs currently exist, they will remain. These specialty
programs include but are not limited to Intervention, READ 180, and ELD.
After School Programs
After School Programs will no longer have their own dedicated classroom space on
elementary school campuses. Classrooms or the multipurpose room would be used for this
program instead.
Child Care
On campuses where Child Care currently exists, they will remain.
Lunch Shelters / Shade Structures
A 2400 square foot structure is included at each site to provide shelter from the elements.
On campuses where the Multipurpose Room falls a little short of the ideal square footage
listed in the program vision document (see Section 3), the shelter is designated a ‘Lunch
Shelter’ and is located near the MPR to provide supplemental protected dining space. On
other campuses, the shelter is designated a ‘Shade Structure’ and may be placed in the
quad or near the hardcourts to provide shade during outdoor activities.
For more information about elementary school spaces, refer to Section 3.2.
