Water Scenario in India
A Tight Rope Walk
More than two billion people worldwide live in regions facing water
scarcity. In India this is a particularly acute crisis where millions lack
access to clean drinking water. The situation is only getting worse.
A rapidly growing economy with a large
agricultural sector stretches India’s
supplies of water already dwindling to
their limits inadequacy of capture and
storage infrastructure makes the country
unable to hold on to enough surplus
water for not in the dry season.
Climate change is expected to add to our
problem this by causing unpredictable
weather patterns, which could diminish
the supply of water coming from rainfall
and snowmelt.
