Active Sound and Vibration Design for Electric Vehicles
An electric vehicle isn’t just a vehicle with an internal combustion engine swapped out for four DC motors. Rather, it is a new kind of vehicle. For a new kind of vehicle, we need to rethink the sound and vibration design in terms of the entire experience–for drivers, pedestrians and other vehicles. What we took for granted in the past, from the roar and throb to the humm and purr, is gone and with it a large part of the design palette for automotive experience. Given this, it is clear we face new problems and new opportunities for sound and vibration design in both pure and hybrid electric vehicles. Where do we start? What are the opportunities? How about risks? Finn and Aaron will take a couple hours to share with you what they and the rest of the Bruel & Kjaer team committed to this work are up to.
