                       MAINTENANCE

                       Chapter 2 Preventative Maintenance

                       Hydraulic Hose Information

The shown FreeStyler® hoses are readily available from the Belanger® Aftermarket Parts Department. Many customers
and distributors make their own hoses or purchase them locally to minimize down time. If you do this, you need to be
aware of Belanger® engineering design requirements.
These hoses must have a minimum working pressure of 2000PSI. The tube should be neoprene or a seamless, black, oil
and heat resistant synthetic rubber. Reinforcement must be 2 braids of high tensile steel wire and meet the requirements
of SAE 100R2-AT or R16. The cover should be a black, oil, abrasion, and weather resistant synthetic rubber. Most
important, they must have the proper bend radius.

The 3/4” I.D. hoses should all have a 4.8” or less minimum bend radius. Hose normally available has a bend radius of 9”
and will not last. The 1” pump station hose must have a minimum bend radius of 6”. We have found the Goodyear-
Flexpulse II, and the Dayco-EasyFlex 250 hoses to meet these requirements. The crimp fittings should meet JIC industry
standard tolerances and be compatible with the hose. Most manufacturers do not recommend interchanging hose and
                        fittings from different manufacturers.
A small amount of liquid Teflon thread sealant when applied to the angle, only of the male JIC fitting, will aid in the sealing
of the metal to metal surfaces. The length of the down tube hose must be exact. If the down tube is a quarter of an inch
too short, that could cause a hose or down tube failure. If the down tube is too long the hose will chafe on the
manifolds. Hoses should be positioned and tightened with 2 wrenches, to prevent any rubbing with FreeStyler®
                        components, or other hoses.
