EDUCATION AND COMMUNITY ENGAGEMENT
The Chicago Zoological Society Education and Community
Engagement department builds capacity for individuals of
all ages to be conservation leaders through their involvement
in our online and in-person programs at Brookfield Zoo and
community-based locations.
Children, teens, adults, families, and professionals connected with
Education and Community Engagement programs over the past year.
Some of these programs returned or were revitalized following hiatuses
due to the COVID-19 pandemic. They have been as popular as ever.
Advanced Inquiry
Program
enrolled over 90 students
who are working toward
their master’s degree.
Zoo Adventure
Passport!
reached over
600 participants at
11 community locations.
To date, there have been 249 graduates in partnership with Miami University of Ohio.
Zoo Camp
welcomed 300+
Zoo Adventure Passport! (ZAP!) is a free, out-of-school, kids over
community-based, family-focused learning opportunity for eight weeks.
all ages. ZAP! is a multi-generational program intended for the
entire family to learn together, gain appreciation for the urban
ecosystem, and connect with other conservation-minded individuals OVER 900
from their own neighborhoods and surrounding communities. PARTICIPANTS

throughout the year.
