John P. Grube Dear Chicago Zoological
Chairman, Board of Trustees Society Friends,
Chicago Zoological Society
You are among our greatest supporters and
Stuart D. Strahl, Ph.D. ambassadors, and thanks to you, we continue
President & CEO to make a far-reaching impact on the lives of
Chicago Zoological Society children and families throughout Chicagoland.
In 2016, we welcomed almost 2.3 million guests,
provided educational programs to nearly 210,000
children and teachers, and furthered our mission
of making emotional connections between
people and animals, from tiny exotic fish to
towering giraffes.
Our achievements are made possible only
through your generous partnership. Your
memberships, philanthropy, and volunteer
engagement help us share our story with others
and transform curiosity about animals into
compassionate action.
Inside this 2016 Annual Impact Review,
you can read about our measurable results,
documented with facts and figures. Plus, two
feature articles illustrate the range of our work
in animal welfare, education and outreach, and
inclusion and diversity. These are stories of
social and technical innovation.
We are proud of this past year’s work and
grateful for your friendship, which makes it
all possible. Together, we will ensure that the
Chicago Zoological Society and Brookfield Zoo
continue to offer the highest standards of animal
care and welfare; facilitate socially relevant
educational, environmental, and outreach
programs; and protect wildlife and habitats
around the globe.
