Our organization requires a documented explanation for an absence of more than two consecutive workdays related to reasons explained above.
When Sick and Safe Time is used, an employee is required to request payment of Sick and Safe Time hours according to his or her regularly scheduled workday. For example, if an employee works a six-hour day, he or she would request six hours of Sick and Safe Time when taking that day off. Sick and Safe Time is paid at the employee’s straight time rate or regular rate of pay. Sick and Safe Time is not part of any overtime calculation.
Employees may not borrow against their Sick and Safe Time banks; therefore, no advance leave will be granted.
Pay is not granted in lieu of taking the actual time off.
A full-time, part-time, temporary, or seasonal employee is not entitled to earned Sick and Safe Time upon termination or resignation.
Please speak to the Program Director in regards to questions surrounding Sick and Safe Time.
