Losing you brought an awakening as skies changed from gray to blue.
I never realized until you weren’t here how much of me...was you.
I thought you took that part of me; in my heart...a gaping hole,
but instead you left yourself with me alive inside my soul.
Those tears I cried were full of fear the day you went away,
but they were a different kind of tear than the ones I shed today.
Today’s tears are full of hope and faith, not derived from merely pain. They connect us as they touch the earth with a strong invisible chain.
I feel your presence by my side as I wake to greet each dawn and I smile knowing that it means you'll never be forever gone.
